چکیده
Figure 1: Phase mode AFM image of directionally crystallized P3HT, revealing the unique grain structure. The white arrow indicates the direction of the fiber axis and polymer chain axis. The scan is 4 by 4 μm. (Left) The cartoon shows a possible orientation of crystallites within the directionally crystallized film, as derived from XRD. Red crystallites are “edge-on” with their pi-pi stacking repeat in the plane of the substrate. Grey crystallites are termed “face-on,” with their pi-pi stacking repeat out of the plane of the substrate. In this cartoon of the grains, the longest axis is long the polymer chain backbone (001), the next longest along the alkyl-stacking direction (100) and the shortest along the pi-pi stacking direction (010), see Figure 2b for reference. A Boltzmann-weighted hopping model of charge transport in organic semicrystalline films
We present a model of charge transport in polycrystalline electronic films, which considers details of the microscopic scale while simultaneously allowing realistically sized films to be simulated. We discuss the approximations and assumptions made by the model, and rationalize its application to thin films of directionally crystallized poly(3-hexylthiophene). In conjunction with experimental d...
متن کاملEnhanced in-plane thermoelectric figure of merit in p-type SiGe thin films by nanograin boundaries.
P-Type polycrystalline silicon-germanium (SiGe) thin films are grown by low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) and their thermoelectric properties are characterized from 120 K to 300 K for potential application in integrated microscale cooling. The naturally formed grain boundaries are found to play a crucial role in determining both the charge and thermal transport properties of the fi...
متن کامل3-dimensional anisotropic thermal transport in microscale poly(3-hexylthiophene) thin films
Anisotropy in material structure leads to distinct anisotropy in mechanical and thermal properties for polymer materials. In this work, poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) thin films are fabricated using the spin coating technique for investigation of anisotropic thermal transport. Raman spectroscopy study of spincoated P3HT films confirms the partially aligned molecular structure. Based on the main ...
متن کاملDependence of Regioregular Poly(3-hexylthiophene) Film Morphology and Field-Effect Mobility on Molecular Weight
Morphological characterization has been used to explain the previously observed strong correlation between charge carrier mobility measured with thin-film transistors and the number-average molecular weight (MW) of the conjugated polymer regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene). Atomic force microscopy and X-ray diffraction show that the low-mobility, low-MW films have a highly ordered structure com...
متن کاملModeling anomalous charge carrier transport in disordered organic semiconductors using the fractional drift-diffusion equation
Anomalous transport is ever-present in many disordered organic semiconductor materials. The long-tail behavior observed in the transient photocurrent is a manifestation of anomalous transport. Owing to the fact that anomalous transport has dispersive and non-Gaussian transport dynamics, thus anomalous transport cannot be adequately described by the standard drift-diffusion equation which is a f...
